I’m Saulo from São Paulo, now based in Berlin. I’m a multidisciplinary design director working across animation, film, art direction, editing, motion design, 3D, and AI-assisted production.
I currently work at 10kR as Design Director for Motion & AI Production, where I explore how motion, design, storytelling, and emerging AI tools can come together to create faster, smarter, and more expressive content. My focus is on building creative systems, directing visual narratives, and developing new production workflows that connect craft with technology.
My creative journey started early, driven by a deep love for animation and film. At 14, I began as an apprentice at a local TV channel, learning the fundamentals of camera operation and video editing. By 17, I was editing for MTV Brazil while also working with several post-production companies in São Paulo.
At 20, I moved to London and co-founded Nearly Normal Studios with Jaime Kiss, a boutique studio specializing in paper craft, stop-motion animation, motion graphics, design, and print production. Over the following eight years, we worked with global brands including Google, Disney, BBC, Adidas, and Under Armour, while also running workshops and creative programs with organizations such as Smart Energy GB, Archcharity.org, and the UK Council. We managed a stop-motion studio in central London with a team of eight people.
Seeking new challenges, I moved to Berlin and co-founded Constellation Road with Craig Kind. Our production company worked with clients in Germany and the United States, creating strategic content that helped brands tell stronger stories about their products. One of those clients, YML, later invited us to help build their content department in 2021. After YML merged into Code and Theory, the team grew to more than 20 content creators, and I led the 3D department as an Associate Creative Director.
Today, my work sits at the intersection of creativity, motion, technology, and AI. I’m interested in how new tools can expand creative possibilities without losing the human eye, taste, and craft that make work memorable. I believe in collaboration, experimentation, and the power of visual storytelling to turn ideas into meaningful experiences.
