I am Saulo from São Paulo, and I consider myself a versatile generalist in the creative field. My roles span Animation & Film Director, Art Director, Editor, Motion Graphics Designer, and 3D enthusiast with over 20 years experience.
Currently, I work as an Associate Creative Director at Code and Theory, where I head the 3D department in the in-house content production studio.
My creative journey began early, driven by a deep love for animation and film. This passion led me to pursue a career that seamlessly blends art and technology, constantly pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
At the age of 14, I started as an apprentice at a local TV channel, learning the fundamentals of camera operation and video editing. By 17, I was a video editor at MTV Brazil, while also working for several post-production companies in São Paulo. At 20, I moved to London and co-founded Nearly Normal Studios with Jaime Kiss, a boutique studio specializing in paper craft stop-motion animation, motion graphics, design, and print production. Over the next 8 years, we worked on exciting projects for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Google, Disney, BBC, Adidas, Under Armour and many more. We also facilitated workshops and webinars with organizations like Smart Energy GB, Archcharity.org, and the UK Council, managing a stop-motion studio in central London with a team of 8 people.
Seeking new horizons, I moved to Berlin and co-founded Constellation Road with Craig Kind. Our production company served clients in Germany and the USA, focusing on strategic content production to help clients tell compelling stories about their products. One of our clients, YML, was so impressed with our work that in 2021 they offered us an opportunity to help build their content department. Following the merger of YML into Code and Theory, we have grown into a team of over 20 content creators, and I am proud to lead the 3D department as an Associate Creative Director.
